Kubernetes node sizing
Turn pod requests into a practical node-pool estimate.

Reference scenarios
Calculated using the default assumptions above, varying the first input only.
| Pods | Estimated nodes | Monthly node cost |
|---|---|---|
| 50 | 5 | $1,095 |
| 100 | 10 | $2,190 |
| 200 | 19 | $4,161 |
How this estimate works
Per-node capacity is the smaller of CPU and memory pod slots after system reserve. Required nodes round up the pod count with the capacity buffer applied. Monthly cost assumes 730 hours. Requests determine scheduling; limits alone do not. This estimate does not model topology constraints, maximum pods per node, GPUs, disk, network, autoscaler behavior, or control-plane fees. Reserve capacity for daemonsets and validate against real workload measurements. Enter your region and purchasing plan’s actual hourly rate.
Start with your measured workload, adjust one assumption at a time, and compare the resulting capacity. Save the scenario link to return to these inputs or share it with your team. Reference scenarios remain fixed so you can compare against a consistent baseline.
